Every year Prescott Area Leadership recognizes individuals who exemplify outstanding leadership and positively influence our Quad City communities through service at our Man, Woman and Youth Leaders of the Year dinner and awards event. POSTPONED! STAY TUNED FOR NEW DATE!
Proceeds from this event are used to foster development of effective leadership skills in community youth. This includes awarding a $2,000 scholarship each to the male and female Youth Leaders of the Year, as well as $500 each to two male and two female finalists, and to fund Quad City youth participation in our annual Prescott Area Youth Leadership Academy.
An announcement is made through press releases, this website, social media and personal communications that nominations are open in mid-November and are completed on-line. Any noteworthy leader in the Quad Cities may be nominated by any adult resident of the Quad Cities; there is no requirement that a nominee must have graduated from PAL’s leadership program. Mid-January nominations close.
All Nominees are then recognized and invited to attend a Nominee Mixer at the end of January, this year at the Prescott Resort. This is a meet and greet event open to the public at large where we all have an opportunity to mingle and engage with the nominees with complimentary appetizers and a no-host bar. The Nominees give a one-minute introduction of themselves highlighting their service to our communities. The Nominees also complete a written questionnaire for the consideration of the anonymous selection committee members.
Unknown to the Nominees or attendees, the anonymous selection committee members are present at the Mixer and they watch the interactions of indivdual Nominees with others and listen to the way in which the Nominees present themselves through their speeches. These observations in conjunction with the original nomination form and the questionaire are taken into account in the selection of three Finalists and in the selection of the one Leader of the Year in each category.
The Finalists are then announced in a similar fashion as the Nominees were and invited to be recognized and celebrated at the Man, Woman and Youth Leaders of the Year Dinner and Awards Event, this year at the Prescott Resort on April 7, 5:00-8:30pm. POSTPONED! STAY TUNED FOR NEW DATE!
At this culminating event, the Finalists are recognized and the Leader of the Year announced in each category. Join us to celebrate all those who make a difference in our communities through leadership and service to others!
